The legislature recognizes Barb Brown and Barry Leemann at their final meeting of 2011. The pair, as well as former clerk of the legislature Ted Jerrett, also received special honors from the New York State Senate.
Harold Woods earned around two dozen medals during his long and distinguished military career that saw him participate in two wars. On Tuesday night, after nearly 70 years, he finally received his high school diploma.
A Scriba business was damaged Monday night following a motor vehicle accident. According to sheriff’s deputies, Jeffrey S. Rose, 29, of Bentley Road, Bldg. 11855, of Clyde, drove his 1999 Chevrolet pickup into the Scriba Town Inn causing damage to the front of the building and the interior.

At 8:58 p.m. Monday the Oswego Fire Department responded to a structure fire at 31 Mercer St. in the northeast section of the city. Upon arrival crews reported smoke and flames coming from the residence.
The Oswego Fire Department gained five new firefighters and a lieutenant Monday afternoon. Meanwhile, the Oswego Police Department saw four of its members promoted to the rank of sergeant. Oswego Police Chief Tory DeCaire acted as master of ceremonies for the program.
The public is cordially invited to attend the inauguration ceremony for the Honorable Mayor Thomas W. Gillen and Honorable Members of the Common Council of the City of Oswego. It will be conducted on Sunday, Jan. 1, 2012. It will start at 1 p.m. in the Common Council Chamber at City Hall.

Following a few changes to the 2012 spending plan Thursday night, Oswego County Legislators approved the $193 million budget. The vote was 20-4-1. Voting against the budget were the four Democrats Mike Kunzwiler, Amy Tresidder, Doug Malone and Jacob Mulcahey. Legislator Mark Fruce was absent.
At its meeting this afternoon (Dec. 15), the Oswego County Legislature voted to authorize the chairman of the legislature to execute the proposed tax agreement regarding Nine Mile Point Unit I and Unit II on certain terms pursuant to RPTL – 485 with Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station, LLC.
