As Central New York residents prepare to honor the nation’s active military and veterans this Memorial Day Weekend, organizers unveiled a series of theme days, activities and special promotions for military members and families at the first-ever Oswego Festival of Sail.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Office is seeking assistance in identifying the two males shown in the attached photographs. On May 26, 2010, the males reportedly entered a construction site in the Town of Richland and allegedly stole a large amount of copper.
Anyone with information regarding this incident or the identity of the persons involved is asked to contact the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office at 349-3411.

Michala Wahl helps her brother, Kevin, man the wheel of the National Historic Landmark World War II Tugboat the LT-5 Friday at the H. Lee White Marine Museum. The LT-5 is part of the museum’s ongoing exhibit.
The tug served during the Normandy Invasion in World War II and is even credited with shooting down an enemy aircraft.
Kevin and Michala are the children of Petty Officer First Class Jeffrey Wahl, the US Navy recruiter stationed in Oswego.
At Fort Ontario, site manager Paul Lear said the gates will open Saturday, with a historical reenactor at the gate to greet them, volunteers to help guide them and General Brown, the site’s pet dog, roaming the grounds as usual.
“The coffee pot will be on and the flags will be up,” he told Oswego County Today.com.
A former Trinity Catholic School student returned Wednesday to take on the sixth graders in the annual sports day challenge. She raced against the school’s four fastest sixth graders – with some mixed results.
The 2010 Oswego Farmers’ Market season got off to early start Thursday afternoon and was met with mixed reviews. For the most part, those visiting the market didn’t seem to mind the new 4 – 8 p.m. (instead of the usual 5 – p.m.) schedule.
The grays and browns of winter and early spring are finally gone. Flowers have poked up from the ground, flowering bushes such as rhododendrons are full of their softball-sized blooms, and trees, like this one in front of Oswego City Hall, remind us that nature comes in all colors.
