The Fulton Common Council has scheduled a public hearing regarding a proposal to mend non-conforming use laws. The hearing is scheduled to take place at a regular council meeting after the public comment section on April 5 starting at 7 p.m. in the city municipal building, 141 S. First St. City officials say they’d like to amend the law to consider each property on an individual basis.
Monday night, the Planning and Development Committee paved the way for establishing an Oswego city board of ethics. The full council will consider the proposal at its meeting next week. Mayor William Barlow recommended creation of the board to dispel the public’s perceived corruption in city government.
On March 7, State Police in Fulton arrested James A. Bond of Airport Road in Fulton, NY for Petit Larceny, a class “A” misdemeanor. Bond is charged with entering WalMart on State Route 3 in the town of Granby and stealing a can of beer.
On March 4, State Police in Fulton arrested Patricia M. Burdick of Birch Lane, town of Scriba, for Petit Larceny, a class “A” misdemeanor. Burdick is charged with stealing retail food and beverages while working at Stewart’s Shops in Minetto.
U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand today (March 7) introduced legislation that would authorize the National Park Service to conduct a study on whether the Fort Ontario and the Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum in Oswego should become a unit of the National Park system.
The average temperature last month was 3.2 degrees higher than average. Total precipitation for the month was 2.60 inches higher than normal. Snowfall for the month was 4.1 inches above average. However, for the winter, snowfall is 57.3 inches below normal.

The H. Lee White Maritime Museum at Oswego has seen a surge in support for the Oswego West Pierhead Lighthouse from the local community since taking over the restoration work in 2014. Whether it’s financial, or in the form of in-kind donations or volunteer support, the community seems to agree in its support of this iconic structure.
A Fulton man arrested in December 2015 for manufacturing methamphetamine in his home with children present has plead guilty to one felony charge and three misdemeanor charges. Tyko J. Delaney Sr. was arrested along with four others for possessing equipment and materials to manufacture methamphetamine. A police report indicated that there were six children present in the residence at the time the search warrant was executed.
