For the past few months, our family waited for Judge King’s ruling.
After months of testimony, reviewing statements and proposed evidence, and additional staff to assist the Judge, the wait concluded yesterday (March 2). We appreciate Judge King’s time and dedication to Heidi’s kidnapping case, decades later.
An effort to get a new trial for Gary Thibodeau has reportedly been denied. “The evidence presented is too remote and disconnected to show that someone other than the defendant kidnapped Heidi Allen,” the court ruled.
The Fulton City School District has won two appeals to remove elementary schools from a state list of focus schools. But, the district as well as the high school remain on the list. Despite the district’s newly acquired status, school officials remain optimistic about the journey ahead for FCSD. “It is a disappointment to be designated as a focus district,” said FCSD Superintendent of Schools, William Lynch. “But it is a reflection of how only one sub group is performing. Accountability is all about performance of subgroups.”
State Police arrested Michael P. Sellin, 53, and Kory M. Sellin, 25, from Cleveland, for Assault in the second degree, a class “C” felony. The arrest stems from an investigation on February 16 into the 39-year-old male victim found unconscious in a parking lot of a restaurant and bar located on State Route 49 in the town of Constantia, state police reported today (March 2).
Mayor Barlow has lifted the on street overnight parking ban, effective immediately. “I want to personally thank each and every resident who obeyed and respected the parking ban and kept their vehicles off the streets overnight so our DPW and plow drivers could effectively clear our streets,” he said.
The path to the Oswego City School District’s new budget is a bit clearer than things were at this time last year. Superintendent Dr. Dean Goewey said he wants to build a budget that focuses on instructional programs and one that is based on only the dollars that the district has. “There’s still a lot of moving pieces here. But, I think we’re in really good shape,” the superintendent said.
On Monday (February 29), at approximately 1:15 p.m. investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force approached a 2002 Mercury Villager as it was parked in a parking lot at 260 S. Second St. in the city of Fulton and interrupted an alleged sale of heroin.

Erie Canalway supports 3,240 jobs and generates $34.9 million in tax revenue.
