A local man hopes to give this area something it hasn’t had on the NYS Board of Regents – an advocate. According to John Sheffield, the NYS Board of Regents has two positions open. One is the district that includes Oswego County. His official application of interest has been submitted and a decision will be mad eon April 1.

Outdoor enthusiasts can learn winter survival skills, the basics of winter camping, and explore the grounds of Camp Hollis on skis and snowshoes at “Base Camp Oswego 2016,” a winter outdoor expo, Feb. 27 at Camp Hollis.

Sunoco, in Volney, will receive $700,000 in state funding awarded through Round Five of Governor Cuomo’s Regional Economic Development Council initiative, to renovate a portion of its facility for the production of barley malt, a component of the beer making process.

Oswego County Legislature Chairman Kevin Gardner (District 13, New Haven) announced appointments to the County Legislature’s standing committees for 2016. The seven committees oversee departments of county government and make budgetary and policy recommendations to the full Legislature.

Michael C. Backus, Oswego County Clerk, said today (Jan. 15) regarding New York’s 22nd Congressional District: “After much thought, consideration, and prayer, I have decided to forgo a campaign for Congress and instead seek a second term as Oswego County Clerk this fall.”
