At this week’s meting, the Common Council approved seeking bids to have a new centrifuge installed at the East Side Waste Water Treatment Plant. The Oswego County Health Department announced that one mosquito sample tested positive for the Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) virus last week. The sample was collected from near the village of Central Square and within the target area that was sprayed on September 4. “Mosquito populations are substantially reduced; however, those that remain may still be infected with the EEE or West Nile viruses,” said Oswego County Public Health Director Jiancheng Huang.

The National Association of State Boating Law Administrators recognized New York Sea Grant Extension Recreation Specialist David G. White as the Northern States Boating Educator of the Year at its 2015 conference in Wichita, Kans., this week. YMCA Oswego kicked off a multi-phased construction project at the Oswego YMCA Indoor Skate Park on September 12. A team of builders has come along side young local talent from the skate park for a multi-phased upgrade project involving mentoring, bonding, and investing in the community through improvements to the local indoor skate park.
