YMCA Oswego kicked off a multi-phased construction project at the Oswego YMCA Indoor Skate Park on September 12. A team of builders has come along side young local talent from the skate park for a multi-phased upgrade project involving mentoring, bonding, and investing in the community through improvements to the local indoor skate park.
State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced she has secured $50,000 to be used for upgrades at Phoenix Memorial Park. “When we invest in maintaining and improving public spaces like Phoenix Memorial Park, we’re investing in the future of our local communities,” said Senator Ritchie.
In an effort to reduce operating costs, energy use and greenhouse gas emissions, representatives from the town of Minetto have created a draft Climate Action Plan. The plan provides specific recommendations for energy saving strategies in areas such as transportation, buildings and facilities, and solid waste disposal.

Alleycat, a downtown Oswego bar and state registered night club located at 23 W. Bridge Street, has enacted multiple procedures to make certain that underage drinking is curbed to the fullest extent possible within the establishment.
The Friends of Fort Ontario and Central New York Ghost Hunters will present the annual Ghost Tours and Reveal event at Fort Ontario State Historic Site Friday and Saturday evenings, Oct. 16 and 17. “Fort Ontario is purported to be one of the most haunted locations in the United States, and was the subject of an episode of the SYFY Channel’s Ghost Hunters show in 2012,” said Fort Supervisor Paul Lear.
On various days this summer, and into this month, Ted Panayotoff, of the Oswego Lighthouse Committee, leads a group on the approximately 1.5-mile jaunt by boat from the Maritime Museum out to Oswego’s iconic West Pierhead Lighthouse. Ultimately, the plan is to not only save the landmark, but open it up to visitors. They began interior restorations, using volunteers, in 2013.
State Police in Lysander are investigating a 3-car crash that occurred at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, at the intersection of John Glenn Blvd. and Buckley Road in the town of Clay. An Oswego County teen suffered minor injuries, police said.
The Fulton Public Library has announced the presentation date of its 2015 Memoir Project, a writing program designed to preserve memories of significant events in Fulton history. The presentation will take place September 23 at 6:30 p.m. and will be held in the Cayuga Community College’s Fulton Campus Community Events Center.
