New State Health Department Regulations Require all Facilities with AC Cooling Towers to Register

The Oswego County Health Department announced today that new regulations affecting air conditioner cooling towers and recirculated water systems have been adopted by the NYS Department of Health. The new regulations are intended to protect the public’s health by preventing community outbreaks of Legionnaires’ disease similar to the outbreak which recently occurred in New York City.

Oswego Police: Missing Juveniles Located

UPDATE: On 09/03/15 at approximately 7:15 pm the city of Oswego police Department announced that the two missing juveniles, Zachary Warren and Alexis Centrone were located in the city of Oswego.
The, Oswego City Police Department, is attempting to locate two juveniles. The missing juveniles are 12-year-old female, Alexis Centrone and 14-year-old male, Zachary D Warren.

Friends of History Brings Hunter Family Back to Fulton

Friends of History is no stranger to keeping Fulton’s history alive and well. Recently, they brought back to Fulton the great-grandson and family of James Hunter, one of the original founders of the historic Hunter Arms Company in Fulton. During the annual Hunter Arms Homecoming Weekend, Jim Hunter accompanied by his wife, Teri, their sons, Jace and Rob, as well as Jace’s expecting wife, Megan, came to Fulton to celebrate their family history with collectors and enthusiasts of their iconic family product. Jim’s great-grandfather, James Hunter, along with his five brothers, bought the L.C. Smith gun manufacturing company out of Syracuse and built a factory for production in Fulton.

New EEE Samples Found in Oswego County; Additional Spraying Planned

The Oswego County Health Department reported today (Sept. 1), that the Eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEE) was detected in four mosquito samples in the Toad Harbor area. These samples were collected last week during routine testing conducted by the county and state health departments. The county plans to conduct aerial spraying Friday evening, September 4 in the Big Bay/Toad Harbor Swamp area.

ATV Collision in Lewis County Claims Life of Oswego Man

On August 29, at approximately 9:28 p.m., State Police in Watertown responded to 2508 Prince Brook Road in the town of Osceola, Lewis County, for a single ATV fatal collision. The investigation revealed, Richard D. Shaw, 52, from Oswego, was operating a 2012 Arctic Cat ATV, with 5 other people when they noticed Mr. Shaw was no longer following the group.

KEYS Program Drives Smiles Onto Faces of Families Battling Cancer

The KEYS Program “Smile Experience” achieved its intended goal, as a number of child cancer patients and their families were all smiles during the most recent KEYS respite day at the Oswego County Quarter Midget Club. “It’s nice for them,” said KEYS Program founder Colleen Bennett in regards to the KEYS children. “To have a day away from hospitals, needles and doctors. To have a day with their family and a moment to just enjoy life.”
