At about 6:51 a.m. today (May 19), emergency crews responded to an East Sixth Street residence in the city of Oswego for a structure fire. As a result of the investigation, the Oswego City Police Department identified a 13-year-old as a suspect in connection with this fire.
On May 14, the Oswego County Drug Task Force with assistance from the New York State Police Financial Crimes Unit and Computer Crimes Unit executed search warrants for the residence and person of Dylan C. Soeffing at 210 Fifth Ave., Apartment # 7. Investigators seized 809 illegally possessed prescription Xanax pills, a small amount of marihuana and more than $170,000 in U.S. currency, police said.

Students in the Fulton City School District recently received a firsthand account of life in Europe during World War II, as Holocaust survivor and author Marion Blumenthal Lazan spoke to fifth and sixth grade students about the troubled childhood she was forced to live in Nazi Germany. The Planning and Development Committee Monday night OK’d a request for a variance to the noise ordinance despite continued opposition from some residents. Opponents maintain that the music is too loud and continues too late. The bar owner said he has and continues to find ways to mitigate the noise level.
On May 15, at approximately 9 a.m., Fulton Police responded to the area of the 100 block of North Second Street regarding a motor vehicle accident. On arrival Officers found 53-year-old Brenda Bouthillier of Mattydale had intentionally caused a motor vehicle accident involving one other vehicle, according to police.

The Fulton City School District held a local career fair on May 14. Hosted at the Fulton Junior High School, 12 local businesses presented at the event. “It’s nice to know what we have available locally,” said parent Mary Jane Porter. Attendees had the chance to hear from various businesses.
