Police: Elmira Man Sent Oswego County Minor Sexually Explicit Photos – Videos

On Thursday (March 5), members of the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, Chemung County Sheriff’s Office and the FBI responded to 1002 Laurel St., Elmira, where Joshua Paul Vandegrift was located.

Vandegrift was later charged at the Chemung County Sheriff’s Office with two counts of second-degree disseminating indecent material to minors and two counts of endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from the collaborative investigation beginning on Jan. 6, as the result of communications occurring over Facebook with the victim, who he knew to be a 12-year-old girl, police said.

Child Advocacy Center Hosts Training Seminars to Fight Child Abuse

When it comes to combating child abuse the Child Advocacy Center of Oswego County is constantly finding ways to improve its services and bring an end to this epidemic. Recently the agency utilized funds from the Shineman Foundation and the Jim and Julie Boeheim Foundation to provide two extensive training seminars for professionals that are involved in the investigation of child abuse cases.

Students will present research papers at the Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium on April 17. The event continues through April 19 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center in Oswego. Last year, Mary Katherine Clerkin took home first prize with her presentation about soldiers’ rations during the War of 1812, which included a sample from an original recipe. Businesses Team up for Winter Coat Distribution In Fulton

It’s been a long, brutally cold winter but fortunately the efforts of two Fulton business owners are making it bit warmer. Joe Cortini of Cortini’s Shoe Store and Jeanne McManus of Ontario Cleaners have been collecting and distributing winter coats, hats and mittens to area youth and children in need of warm outerwear. An idea that started with the donation of few coats has grown in to a project that has collected more than 300 winter coats.
