LeVea’s Parole Denied – For Now

William LeVea, the Fulton man who recklessly caused the death of Christopher Spack when he repeatedly rammed his vehicle into the man’s pick-up truck, has been denied a request for an early release from prison. Donna Williams, who was Spack’s girlfriend, and spearheaded a Moveon.org petition to help keep LeVea in prison, said she was overwhelmed when she heard today’s news.

Safe Haven Museum Hosts 70th Reunion June 19-22

The Safe Haven Museum and Education Center is proud to announce that the 70th reunion of the Fort Ontario Emergency Refugee Shelter will take place from June 19 through 22. On Aug. 5, 1944, 982 refugees who survived Nazi reign during World War II arrived at Fort Ontario in Oswego. They were allowed into the country as “guests” of President Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Schumer Water Resources Bill Heads To President’s Desk

For the past year, the senator has pushed members of the conference committee that were drafting the final bill language to include these provisions in the bill. Schumer explained that the inclusion of these two provisions is a major victory for all of Upstate New York because it will prioritize dredging projects in Buffalo, Rochester and Oswego over the long-term that will make those harbors easier to navigate, and it will help make dams – and the communities near them – safer.
