“We spent about 95 percent of our time when we had codes, doing inspections. That’s pretty much all we do, leaving little time for enforcement,” Councilor Mike Todd said. “Nothing really gets done with enforcement. We need to get to a point where we have some teeth to go after these houses and start cleaning them up.” He proposed a scale of fines up to $5,000 as well as immediate eviction of problem tenants.
On May 16, Andrew J. Galluzi, 21, of 39 Manorview Way Manorville, NY, was arrested in Suffolk County New York based upon an Oswego County Court arrest warrant. Galluzi was remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility to await arraignment in Oswego County Court.
Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin E. Walsh reports that effective immediately, the Seneca River is closed to all boat traffic from Three Rivers to the Cayuga County line until further notice due to high waters.
According to the Canal Corporation, the high waters have caused damage to several boats.
Fulton Police are investigating a report of an attempted robbery at Price Chopper located at 12 W. First St. S., in the city of Fulton. On Sunday (May 18), at about 1:20 a.m., officers responded to Price Chopper and found that an unknown white male had allegedly entered the business and passed a note to the clerk demanding money.
Firefighters responded Sunday night to a fire in the basement area of the Buckhout Building below Murdock’s Bike Shop. The fire was located in the window frame between the window and the plywood covering it and was extinguished. The cause appears to be improper disposal of smoking materials, according to OFD.
Several volunteers, young and old, assist the Fulton VFW Post #569 and Fulton American Legion in honoring locally buried veterans. On Sunday, they placed flags at the graves of many veterans. It was also a vivid local history lesson for many involved.

Paddlers of all ages and abilities have a chance to paddle the locks on the Oswego River Canal June 21, in the Oswego “Rock the Locks” Paddlefest. The event encourages kayakers and canoeists to enjoy and appreciate the unique beauty of the historic Oswego River, followed by food and music along the canal in Oswego.
On Thursday at approximately 8:05 p.m., investigators with the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team executed a search warrant at 146 E. Third St. in the city of Oswego. Two people were charged – Joseph B. Crapser and Amy E. Favata, both of of 146 E. Third St., Oswego.
Motorists are reminded that the month of May is “Buckle Up New York Click it or Ticket 2014.” New York will be participating in a “Border to Border” effort. New York law enforcement agencies will join those from ten other states to team up in a Click It or Ticket “Border to Border” enforcement and public education operation.
