Boat Capsizes in the Oswego River forcing 3 into Frigid Water

A small fishing boat with 3 people in it took on water today (April 27) and capsized in the Oswego River. The incident happened around noon, just north of the Bridge Street bridge as the boat maneuvered in the rapid currents of the river. Luckily, the 3 people in the water today were wearing lifevests and were able to get out of a dangerous situation unscathed, according to OFD.

The city of Oswego Community Development Office has administered a Section 8 Rental Assistance Program for Oswego’s low income renters since 1976. In 2013, the Congress implemented “sequestration cuts” that impacted rental assistance programs across the county, cutting more than 70,000 rental vouchers for families nationwide and exacerbating homelessness in America.

New interactive map to help visitors explore Rice Creek

“Visitors can explore the clickable, interactive, color-coded map and learn more about Rice Creek trails and features to plan a visit, find their way along the trails or to document course projects and research,” said Diann Jackson, assistant director of the field station. Jackson said the new map could be customized to show one trail or one habitat at a time, as well as locations of benches, footbridges and other landmarks.

Jamie Enwright, a campus public safety officer with SUNY Oswego's University Police Department, has received a SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Classified Service.Jamie Enwright’s more than two decades of service to SUNY Oswego as a member of the college’s University Police staff has been recognized with a SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Classified Service. Regional award honors WRVO documentary ‘New York in the World’

“New York in the World,” a documentary produced by SUNY Oswego-based WRVO Public Media, has won a 2014 regional Edward R. Murrow Award from the Radio Television Digital News Association. The association has honored outstanding achievements in electronic journalism with the Murrow Awards since 1971.
