The Oswego County Legislature’s Public Safety and Finance and Personnel committees have approved a budget modification request from Oswego County Sheriff Reuel A. Todd to cover the cost of housing inmates out-of-county. In the first two months of the year, this expense amounted to $130,000 which exhausted the adopted 2014 budget amount of $100,000.

The average temperature for March 2014 was 27.0 degrees. That is 6.9 degrees below average. “It was cold. But it only ended up in a three-way tie for the 15th coldest March in Oswego (going back to 1855),” according to Bill Gregway, local observer for the National Weather Service.
Camp Hollis, located at 40 Health Camp Road on the Lake Ontario shoreline in the town of Oswego, has been owned and operated by Oswego County since July 1946. The camp serves hundreds of children each summer. The Youth Bureau is currently looking for new campers as well as staff.

State Police in Fulton were contacted on Monday (3/31/14) by the town of Volney Fire Chief regarding a suspicious vehicle. This investigation resulted in the arrest of 40-year-old Christopher A. Hughes from Mexico. Hughes was charged with 1 count of Criminal Impersonation in the 2nd Degree, a class “A” misdemeanor.
With signs out front declaring an urgent need for all blood types, the city of Fulton Municipal Building was the site of Monday’s American Red Cross blood drive.
American Red Cross donor specialist Will noted the nation’s blood bank needs constant resupply. “Most donated red blood cells must be used within 42 days of collection,” he said.
