Ten innovative education and preservation projects will get off the ground this year with funding support from Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. That includes $4,000 for the H. Lee White Marine Museum to develop a traveling exhibit that documents changes in the Oswego Canal and adjacent landscape using historical and current day images.

Joseph Pilotta says he has several interested parties lined up to attend the international meeting in his hometown. He is also continuing his push to create a huge floating facility in the Lake Ontario at the International Marina. The venture would mean millions of tax dollars for Oswego, he said.

Zink Shirts packed in the crowd for “What Have We Done, This Time?” that showcased the work of local artists. The artwork lined the walls of the screen printing shop along with the usual merchandise. People explored the shop, viewing pieces made by Aaron Z. Lee. Other artists included Miles George and locals Erik Miller and Breanne Regano.

The city is considering getting one new ambulance to replace the oldest one currently in the fleet. It will cut down on money the fire department has spent on maintenace costs. And, it would free up DPW employees who have worked to keep the old ambulances on the road, city officials said this week.

Students from SUNY Oswego won two awards in the recent Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts, a national competition.

Councilor Eric VanBuren has scheduled a Sixth Ward-City of Oswego meeting. It will take place February 27 at 5:30 p.m., in the Council Chamber at City Hall. The general public may also attend.
