A new interpretive panel of the U.S. Brig Oneida, part of the history-themed Great Lakes Seaway Trail Outdoor Storyteller sign series, was unveiled recently at the north end of Riverwalk West in West Linear Park. The location gives visitors the opportunity to envision this significant part of Oswego’s history in the War of 1812.
The organization was formed in 2002 to honor the local men who fought in the Battle of the Bulge and keep alive the memories of those who made the ultimate sacrifice, according to chairman John Canale. He describes the members of the group as “patriots” and “heroes.”
At about 1 p.m. on Monday, Robert Harry Schebell, 38, of 24 Homested Ave., Phoenix, was arrested for three counts of third-degree sexual abuse, a class B misdemeanor and Endangering the Welfare of a Child, a class A misdemeanor.

Novelis, the world leader in aluminum rolling and recycling, today (Dec. 17) announced it will invest an additional $205 million to further expand its global manufacturing operations serving the rapidly growing automotive market. The company will build new finishing lines at its plants in Oswego and Nachterstedt, Germany, dedicated to the production of aluminum automotive sheet.
The Central New York Interoperable Communication Consortium has released a new video summarizing the latest E-911 radio system now being constructed by nine counties for improved emergency communication. The video production, sponsored by Motorola and produced by SUNY Oswego students, is available for viewing on YouTube and the Oswego County E-911 Web site.
The Oswego council’s Administrative Services Committee tabled a resolution Monday night that would have struck a new deal with Brookfield Power to manage the High Dam Hydro Station. There are some outstanding issues the city wants to discuss with the company first, councilors said.
