Drive-In Nights bring nostalgia to Sweet Inspirations in Fulton

Cars lined the grass in front of Sweet Inspirations in Fulton on Wednesday night and the tradition of Drive-in night lives on. People come from all over Oswego County and even outside the county to share stories and take a look at one another’s cars. Drive-In night at Sweets hosts all different makes, models, and years of cars. Many owners were getting ready to show cars at the Syracuse Nationals this weekend.

Fulton Broadway Bridge Construction Running on Schedule

Traffic moves across the bridge as construction continues.“Construction on the north side is on schedule,” Gene Cilento of NYS DOT told Oswego County Today. “Nightly work is being done to replace steel. The process then follows what happened during the first phase – deck pan installation, the reinforcing steel bars get placed and then the deck is poured and cured. At the moment, it looks as if the project will go over another winter with completion in early/mid 2014 – June or July.”

Humane Society’s annual ‘Chasing and Fetching Balls’ Tournament Set July 22

Porky and Buddy, the OCHS mascots, practice for the tournament, which they have no hope of winning.The Oswego County Humane Society will hold its 13th annual “Chasing and Fetching Balls (aka Golf) Tournament on July 22 with a tee-off at 1 p.m. at the Beaver Meadows Golf Club in Phoenix. The event, in captain and crew format, includes 18 holes of golf with a cart, lunch at the snack bar at noon, beverages on the course, and a buffet chicken dinner.

Cayuga CC Board of Trustees passes a resolution declaring financial exigency

During its monthly meeting tonight (July 17), the Cayuga Community College Board of Trustees passed a resolution in an 8 to 1 vote declaring financial exigency. The declaration follows the board’s approval of a conservative budget of $30.32 million last month. That budget goes before Cayuga County Legislature for approval on July 23.

Oswego Police Investigating Possible Methamphetamine Lab – Suspect Arrested

UPDATE:  An arrest has been made as a result of the investigation into a possible methamphetamine lab at 11 Gregory St. Oswego. Brenda L. Howard, 41, of 11 Gregory St., Oswego, was arrested and charged with the following: Unlawful Manufacture of Methamphetamine in the 3rd Degree – Class D Felony. Police responded to the location in regard to an unrelated complaint. Upon investigation, officers developed information and later made observations, that would indicate that the location had been used for the illegal  manufacture of methamphetamine.
