At about noon February 27, the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti -Crime Team (ACT), with the assistance of the Special Response Team (SRT), executed narcotics related search warrants at two residences within the city of Oswego.

The new rate for the superintendent is $147,737 for the 2012-13 school year. Community input is sought as the process to hire a new Oswego Superintendent of Schools continues.

“Music in Our Schools Month” puts the spotlight on hundreds of Oswego City School District students. Beginning on Wednesday, the Riley Elementary chorus will take to the stage at Oswego High School and will be joined by the OHS choirs and the Oswego Middle School choruses.

It will be an opportunity for residents to bring up issues and ask questions of councilors and other city officials. It is tentatively scheduled for some time in April. Also, some funding for the Lighthouse Project is approved.

The project, started by Emily Bradshaw, recently distributed its 1,000th personal care bag. Since last fall, she’s been collecting shampoo, bar soap, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deodorant and other items to aid area homeless or nearly homeless individuals or families in need. She is also helping with OCO’s Lucky 13’ Bowl-A-Fun.

An ivory grand piano, on which hundreds of local students learned to play, is now being enjoyed by the residents of Springside at Seneca Hill. Donna and Dante Ascenzi recently donated the G175 Young Chang piano to the retirement community, where her parents, Jack and Joan Taber reside.
