Oswego Council Approves Taxi Law
The law, amending Chapter 228 of the Code of the City of Oswego, in particular who can be taxi divers in the Port City, was approved 7-0 Monday. The lone speaker at the public hearing, a former opponent of the law, voiced his support of the new version.

Palermo Home Burns to Ground
An Oswego County Today reader submitted this photo from this morning’s fire on Sundown Rd. in Palermo. Reports indicate no one was hurt in the fire, but the home is a total loss.

Serious Accident In Scriba
Emergency crews are on the scene of a serious accident in Scriba. The crash happened at about 3:54 p.m. today at 737 County Route 1, Scriba. There is no report currently on the condition of either person involved.

Public Hearing Set Monday on Proposed Taxi Law
Jeremy Zielinski, founder / CEO of Workforce Advocacy Center, said he would encourgae the council to pass the new version. His organization filed a lawsuit last fall over the original version of the proposed local law.

A woman from Oswego was the driver involved in an accident that has left a Liverpool man in critical condition. UPDATE: The injured man has improved to fair condition.

Police: Two Employees Stole from Granby Convenience Store
Two women who worked at a Granby Center convenience store are accused of using different methods to take money from the store.
Crystal N. Hines-Carvey, 28, of 12 Germandale Drive, Fulton was charged with a felony count of grand larceny by Oswego County Sheriff’s deputies. Theressa A. Castillo, 43, of 6014 Manley Drive, Red Creek, was charged with a misdemeanor count of petit larceny.

Jobs Outlook Turns Downwards in County, Nears Record
Unemployment in Oswego County took a sudden turn upwards in December, making 2012 the second-worst in more than 20 years for those looking for work.
The New York State Labor Department reported that unemployment in the county shot upwards, from 9.5% in November to 11% in December.
