City and college officials will continue their partnership to educate the student population on societal norms and community expectations, while placing a strong emphasis on consequences for disruptive or irresponsible actions both on-campus and off.
The groundbreaking ceremony at Premier Living Suites, an apartment complex designed for college students, was held shortly after noon at 247 W. Utica St. on Wednesday. Premier Living Suites is currently signing leases for the 71 beds in the building. It should be ready to open in time for the fall 2013 semester.
On Tuesday, the Oswego City Police Department’s Anti-Crime Team executed a search warrant at 136 W. Seneca St., Oswego. Investigators discovered an illegal outdoor marijuana grow, according to police. Several plants were seized which yielded an aggregate weight of 2.85 pounds.
They allegedly received more than $3,000 during the months of May 2008 until December 2008 from the Oswego County Department of Social Services they weren’t entitled to.
Temperatures will keep getting warmer the next few days
The USTA Tennis Program teaches basic tennis skills and gives youth a chance to get outside and exercise, said the program’s coordinator. An “Olympics” was held to give them a chance to show off what they’ve learned.
The Oswego County Health Department reports that West Nile virus was found in mosquitoes collected Aug. 7 near the Toad Harbor Swamp in West Monroe. The County was notified Aug. 20 by the New York State Department of Health of the positive mosquito sample.
