Hannibal Board of Education members will vote next week to send to the voters a budget for 2012-13 that, for the first time in several years, doesn’t include cuts in jobs, programs or services.
UPDATE: Police have identified the victim as Maryfrancis Goulet of Fulton. She is reported as being stable and currently being treated for non-life threatening injuries. At 4:18 p.m. April 11, the Oswego City Police and Fire departments responded to a report of a roll over motor vehicle accident at West Utica and Dublin streets.
Hundreds of children took part in a birthday celebration today (April 11) inside and outside at the Oswego Public Library. The guest of honor was parked in front of the library on East First Street. It was one year ago today that a contingent of volunteers returned to Oswego from a journey to Ohio to check out a bookmobile that was for sale.

At 11:39 a.m. on Tuesday, Derrick R. Williams Jr., 54, of 38 Birch Lane Apt. 35B, Oswego, was arrested for third-degree grand larceny, a class D felony; third-degree welfare fraud, a class D felony; and first-degree offering a false instrument for filing, a class E felony.

Today, I am very pleased to announce that the Ethics Complaint filed against me last December by former County Legislature Chairman Barry Leemann has been unanimously dismissed by the Oswego County Board of Ethics as being meritless.
Months of work and worry ended quickly and quietly for the Fulton Board of Education as members voted without discussion to approve a budget for the 2012-13 school year.
The proposed budget spends $62.4 million. That’s up $2.1 million — about 3.5% — from the current budget. But some welcome increases in state aid and a reduction in the amount the state will take back to lower its own deficit mean that the tax levy increase is 1.9%.
The Oswego School Board continues to tweak the tentative 2012-13 spending plan. There will be a budget discussion at the April 17 board meeting. The board will vote on the superintendent’s spending plan at the meeting. The budget proposal has been decreased by $850,000 from the original budget presented March 20.
