On Tuesday, State Senator Patty Ritchie released a 93-page report on last summer’s EEE outbreak that took the life of a 4-year-old Oswego County girl, the third fatality in three years caused by the mosquito borne virus.

Oswego Man Charged In Attempted Robbery Investigation
On Monday at approximately 11:13 p.m., Oswego City Police responded to a robbery complaint in the area of Ontario and Lake streets. The victim alleged that while he was walking his dog, an unknown male suspect approached him, pointed what appeared to be a black handgun at him, and demanded money. The suspect then fled the area after the victim stated he did not have any money.

Water Leak Takes CENG’s Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station Unit 1 Off Line
On Saturday, Nine Mile Point Unit 1 licensed Operators identified increased water leakage inside the drywell. Operators in accordance with their procedures and training, appropriately reduced power at the unit in order to perform inspections to identify the source of the leak. Unit 1 was removed from the grid just after midnight on Sunday.
Fire Destroys Black Creek Lumber Company In Volney
The owner of Black Creek Lumber Company on County Route 57 in Volney, lost his entire business to fire Monday morning.
“I’ve been thinking about retiring,” Dennis Gantley said. “I didn’t want to see it go like this.”
“It was a ball of fire, I’ll tell you.”

Fulton Snowmobile Racer Hurt in Accident that Killed North Country Man
According to WWNY-TV in Watertown, John Altman, III of Fulton suffered injuries in a crash during a vintage snowmobile race in Gouverneur Saturday.
The crash killed a racer from Ontario and forced the rest of the day’s races to be cancelled.
