Many of the first-year college students are leaving home for the first time. We asked current college students what necessary items they have found themselves without most often in order to help students be more ready for move-in day.
The Oswego County Health Department postponed its plans to spray an area of central Oswego County today because of rain. Weather permitting, the department will resume aerial spraying Monday evening, Aug. 22. In order for spraying to be effective, foliage needs to be relatively dry and the weather should be rain-free for at least 30 minutes after the pesticide is applied.
Aerial spraying of the Toad Harbor / Big Bay Swamp area on the north shore of Oneida Lake was completed between 7 and 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20.

Police located the suspect in a Mexico motel room along with the victim. Further investigation determined that at approximately 3:56 a.m. on Friday, he had arrived at the victim’s residence in the city of Oswego, where he had engaged in sexual intercourse with the victim by forcible compulsion.

On Aug. 14, at about 3:42 a.m., Oswego Police responded to robbery which had been reported on East Bridge Street in the area of East Third Street. A suspect was arrested Friday.
Weather permitting, the Oswego County Health Department will conduct aerial spraying of the Big Bay / Toad Harbor Swamp on the north shore of Oneida Lake the evening of Saturday and an additional area in the towns of New Haven, Volney, Hastings, Palermo and Mexico the evening of Aug. 21.
Hannibal turned out for its annual parade Thursday night. Half of the community was in the parade and the other half lined the streets of the village to applaud the passing bands, politicians and floats.
