Council Approves Changes To Snow Removal Ordinance

Workers clear snow from the sidewalk at East Second and Bridge streets area during a previous winter.

The amendments should make it easier for those who have trouble keeping their sidewalks clear, especially in areas where plows go by frequently and throw snow and ice back on the sidewalks, proponents said. The ordinance will take effect after approval by the mayor and 10 days after official publication.

State Decision On Ballast Water Regulations Could Sink Oswego Port

The port could be forced to close if New York moves forward to enforce unworkable rules governing the treatment of ballast water carried by commercial vessels on the St. Lawrence Seaway.
