It isn’t uncommon today to see men and women in elected and appointed positions. But, only a few generations ago, seeing women in office was unheard. Women weren’t even allowed the right to vote in America. All that changed this week in 1920, with the passing of the Nineteenth Amendment, which gave all women the right to vote.

He’s strong, proud and athletic. He’s a member of the Onondaga Nation and he walked on the land when it was little more than trees and a lake.
The proposed new logo for the school district’s athletic teams and high school made its first public appearance Tuesday night before the Board of Education.
A move to reduce the number of administrators in the district by four came back to the table at Tuesday’s board of education meeting. Just as it did this spring, if failed to get the required support to pass. In other action, the board named a new law firm as the district’s attorney.
A school lunch will cost a nickel more this coming year in the Hannibal Central School District.
The five cent increase was approved by the Board of Education during a discussion of whether to raise the price by ten cents instead.
This weekend’s heavy rains have forced the state to close the locks along the Oswego Canal.
The locks in Phoenix, Fulton, Minetto and Oswego will stay closed until water levels subside.
The senator is pushing for full funding of the Land and Water Conservation Fund in the upcoming Energy Bill vote. The program is funded by royalties from gas and oil drilling on federal land – and not taxpayer money.
More than two inches of rain fell on most of Oswego County over the weekend, a steady, often driving rain that filled basements and creeks.
