UPDATE, 9:00 P.M. TUESDAY: Oswego Police arrested the person who lives in another apartment at 211 E. Eighth St. and charged him with setting the fire inside apartment 1.
At about 5:23 p.m. Monday, the Oswego City Fire Department responded with the Oswego City Police Department to a reported structure fire at 211 E. Eighth St. Investigators at the scene have indicated that from the preliminary investigation, the fire does appear to be suspicious.
A text message from the mother of a young cancer patient shook Julie Montgomery. She wondered what to do. Her decision: Get people together to pray for the young man, for his family, and a cure.

The council will schedule a public hearing on the proposed changes at its Sept. 27 meeting. Aldermen will consider the proposed amendments two weeks after that.
The Administrative Services Committee gave a favorable recommendation Monday night to replenishing the fire department’s payroll account. The budget line is nearly depleted, according to Chief Jeff McCrobie. “Right now our accounts are down, almost drained completely,†he said.

But, the Executive Director of the Office of Business and Community Relations at SUNY Oswego doesn’t plan to slow down too much. She’s proud to have increased collaboration between college and community in a variety of ways. She plans to do some traveling. But she will also remain committed to the community service work she’s doing in Oswego.
