State Math, English Scoring Change Affects Hundreds of Fulton Students; Could Drive Up School Costs

The state’s sudden change in scoring its statewide grades 3 through 8 tests dealt a cruel blow to some students and possibly a very expensive blow to school districts, including Fulton.  Hundreds of students who had scored as proficient in math or English found themselves in the not-proficient category after the tests were rescored.  And that could cost the district money it doesn’t have to help those students.

Traffic Alert: Change Over Starts On Utica Street Bridge

TRAFFIC ALERT: Beginning today (Aug. 9), crews will be making the change over, opening the north side of the Utica Street Bridge and closing the south side of the bridge. This change will most likely take all day to complete. As has been the case, the bridge will remain open during the project with one lane available for traffic in each direction.

Hillside Water Problems Seep Back Into Council Meeting

The water quality problems several Hillside Avenue residents are having resurfaced at this week’s Administrative Services Committee meeting. Councilor Ron Kaplewicz requested the council waive the water fee for select residents on Hillside Avenue. They received a waiver last quarter. However, the poor water quality hasn’t been corrected by the city, and residents have received their full bills for the next quarter.
