Zone Change Request Returns To Oswego Council

The request to re-zone 134 E. 13th St. (southerly portion) and 140 E. 13th St. from an R-3 Residential District to a B-1 Neighborhood Business District returned for council consideration Tuesday night. The petition was withdrawn last year due to opposition from some neighbors. The committee favors holding a public hearing to see if there is any lingering opposition to the amended petition.

Fulton’s Board of Education tonight holds its second workshop on its budget for the next school year. The public is welcome to attend. The board and district officials are working to build a budget for the 2010-11 school year.  It’s the budget that taxpayers will vote on in May during the statewide day of school budget voting.

New State Budget Proposal Due Today; Deep Cuts Likely

The Governor’s budget proposes to cut municipal aid to every village, town and city in Oswego County by 5%.  The cut to the city of Fulton would eliminate more than $88,000, while the cut to the city of Oswego would take away more than $133,000.

School aid would also be cut by 5%, though there is no breakout by individual districts to indicate whether the cut is across-the-board or whether some districts will take steeper cuts than others.

State Lawmakers Race The Clock For “Race To The Top” Education Money
