Bob Gessner fell in love with Oswego’s lake and stayed here long enough to see the things he loved about radio fall away. Gessner owned Oswego’s WSGO-AM until the mid 1990’s and built its FM sister — the last local radio station owners in Oswego County. He believed in local issues and put local ideas and local people on the air. Gessner died over the weekend, but the people who worked for him — including his daughter — say his impact will always be felt.

State Senators Wednesday filled most of a big gap in the state budget without hurting this year’s local school district budgets, but took a chunk out of next year’s budget in the process.
