Despite Funding To Oswego, Lee Continues Efforts Toward Partnership

Lee Memorial Hospital official says that despite the state’s announcement that Oswego Hospital will receive a sizeable grant to make improvements to several of its departments, the goal of keeping Lee Memorial up and running has not changed. Talks of a potential partnership agreement between Lee and one of two Syracuse hospitals continue.

Report Details Maxwell Investigations

</p>A 26-page report detailing Oswego County Department of Social Services’ investigations involving Erin Maxwell was made public Thursday afternoon. Originally prepared for Oswego County Legislature Chairman Barry Leemann, the report provided information about three separate investigations that were launched over a three-year span between 2003 and 2006. DSS Commissioner Frances Lanigan says that another investigation is underway.

Father Fuming Over Lack of Notice

Fajo Edwards’ father says his family had no idea that Audrey Arnold, the woman convicted this year of causing severe injuries to his son in 2006, was released from the Oswego County jail earlier this month. Now Elroy Edwards says he wants to know why. Undersheriff Robert Lighthall says victim notification is not part of the parole board’s requirements for the local condition release program. He noted, too, that Arnold is only the third inmate to receive local conditional release in Oswego County since 2005.

UniStar Nuclear Energy Submits License Application to NRC for Potential Third Nuclear Reactor at Nine Mile Point

The next step was taken Wednesday to bring a fourth nuclear plant to Oswego County.  Unistar Nuclear Energy filed papers with the federal government to apply for a license to build and operate a reactor on the Nine Mile Point Nuclear Station campus in Scriba.  Unistar still hasn’t decided whether it wants to build the next reactor in Scriba or in Maryland, but the license application is a necessary step forward.
