Oswego Hospital Awarded $14.4 Million in HEAL NY Funds

Oswego Hospital learned Tuesday it has been awarded $14.4 million in grant funds that enable the health care facility to make improvements to several key hospital departments in order to support the future healthcare needs of residents in Oswego County. The funding, called HEAL NY (Healthcare Efficiency and Affordability Law for New Yorkers) is designated to meet the mandates of the Commission on Health Care Facilities in the 21st Century.

Dennis Clavelli and Scott Rivenburgh pleaded guilty to grand larceny in the third degree (class D felony) for their roles in an alleged conspiracy to steal more than $118,000 from SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse. Clavelli, 48, formerly of Oswego, was a manager in the hospitalÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã¢â€žÂ¢s Clinical Engineering Department.

As Salvatore Lanza, the attorney for the Maxwell family, addressed the community during a press conference Friday, he defended the Oswego County Department of Social Services on the familyÃƒÂ¢Ã¢â€šÂ¬Ã‹Å“s behalf and stressed that the Maxwells do not hold the county responsible for the death of 11-year-old Erin Maxwell. Behind Lanza, a Palermo resident held a sign to say that he does.
