DEC Announces 2022 Hunting Season Ties Record For Safest-Ever Year

New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) Commissioner Basil Seggos today announced the 2022 hunting seasons tied 2021 for the safest-ever year, with the lowest number of hunting-related shooting incidents since record-keeping began. DEC Environmental Conservation Police Officers (ECOs) investigated nine hunting-related shooting incidents (HRSIs) in 2022, including one fatality.

National Grid Increases Staffing, Stages Crews In Anticipation Of Severe Winter Weather Across Central New York And Mohawk Valley

February is coming to a close with one last winter storm and National Grid is responding by increasing staffing and extending evening and overnight work shifts. Meteorologists have called for heavy snow and the potential for ice and high winds across the I-90 corridor from the Syracuse area and to the Mohawk Valley beginning on Monday evening and extending through Tuesday morning.
