Oswego firefighters made quick work of a fire in a single-family home on Lyon Street, on the city’s east side, just after 11 p.m. on Sunday. Two adults and three children were able to escape the flames thanks to working smoke detectors. No injuries were reported.

DeWitt Murder-Robbery Suspect Arrested in Fulton

A Syracuse man who allegedly killed two Chili’s Restaurant workers during a robbery at the Shoppingtown Plaza, DeWitt, business on Saturday was reportedly captured and arrested early today in Fulton. William D. Wood Jr., 32, was arrested at about 1 a.m., according to a report by the DeWitt Police Department.

After bringing to light homeowner concerns at recent common council meetings including suspicious activity in neighborhoods, suspected drug use, and negligent properties, fifth ward councilor Dennis Merlino set up a meeting to form a neighborhood watch program.
