Communications Outage In Parish Interrupts 911 Service

The Oswego County E-911 Communications Center reports (today July 22) a 911 outage in the Parish 625 exchange for customers of New Visions Communications, a provider of telephone, internet and cable service. People in Parish who have an emergency and who cannot call 911 from their landlines should go to the Parish Volunteer Fire Department.

Fox Attacks Dog in Albion; Health Department Warns Residents of Rabid Fox

The Oswego County Health Department announced today (July 20), that a gray fox captured in the town of Albion along Albion Cross Road has tested positive for rabies. The animal approached a dog on a porch and attacked on Saturday, July 14. Two people were also involved and are currently being treated. The dog is up-to-date on his rabies vaccinations and received a booster shot.

FCSD Offers Space Themed STEAM Summer Camp with $1M Grant

The Fulton City School District was recently awarded the Title IV Student Support and Academic Enrichment (SSAE) grant in the sum of $1 million. The 15-month grant allows FCSD to offer a Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics (STEAM) summer camp from August 13 – August 24 as well as an after school program through the duration of the 2018-2019 school year. The STEAM summer camp will be project-based learning following a space theme complete with drones, Lego robotics, and even a presentation from a visiting astronaut.

Committee OKs Mayor’s Homeless Proposal

At its meeting Monday night, the Administrative Services Committee approved the mayor’s request for a $25,000 budget amendment. The funds will be used to contract with Oswego County Opportunities to perform street canvassing throughout the city of Oswego from August 1 to December 31 in an effort to combat homelessness in the Oswego community. The full council will now consider the matter at its next meeting.

Syracuse Man Arrested On Sex Abuse Charges

On July 10, State Police arrested Mitchell Pallone, 33, of Syracuse, for Forcible Touching (A – misdemeanor), Sex Abuse 2nd degree (A – misdemeanor) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A -misdemeanor). Pallone is accused of having forcible sexual contact with a girl less than 14 years old on July 8 in the town of Richland.
