On Saturday, January 27, an army of volunteers will gather at the VFW Post #369, 5930 Scenic Ave, Mexico. The public is invited to join Homes For Our Troops as it kicks off the build project for Army SPC Ryan Wilcox’s forever home. Spc. Wilcox, a local wounded soldier, will be the recipient of a specially modified, mortgage-free home for wounded soldiers from Homes for Our Troops.

After a thaw that took us from single digits up into the 60s in some areas, the current forecast across all of Western and Central New York is calling for freezing rain, sleet, heavy snow and plummeting temperatures starting tonight (Jan. 12). Paula Hayden resigned from her position as a board member in December 2017. Since then, the remaining six board members have grappled with how to move forward in handling the vacant seat. They were split in deciding between leaving the seat vacant and appointing a replacement. At Tuesday’s (Jan 9) regular meeting, the six remaining members continued to debate the situation. Ultimately, the board settled at a decision to solicit letters of interest from anyone interested that also fits the necessary criteria. The board will act on an appointment at the next board meeting on Tuesday, Jan 23.
For today (Jan. 12), they are cancelling all after-school and evening activities. For tomorrow (Jan. 13) they are cancelling all activities.
Shane R. Vivlamore, 30, of Fulton, was arrested after an investigation by the city of Fulton Police Department and charged with the following crimes: Sexual Abuse in the First Degree – Class D Felony, Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Class A Misdemeanor, Forcible Touching – Class A Misdemeanor.
A plentiful crowd filled the area’s newest ALDI store as a ribbon cutting ceremony officially welcomed the international grocery chain to Fulton. One of more than 1,600 ALDI stores throughout the United States, the Fulton store located at 555 S. Fourth St. boasts a fresh, modern look with priority on providing quality, affordable products to shoppers. Mayor Ronald Woodward welcomed ALDI to Fulton, a project that was “a long time coming” before store manager, Todd Moore cut the ribbon and declared the store officially open. “I feel relieved, glad, and now I’m looking forward to developing the remaining 22 acres of that site and I think Aldi will be a great draw for others,” Mayor Woodward told Oswego County Today.
The arrest stems from the investigation into an incident that occurred on Dec. 27, 2017, at a residence in the town of Hannibal, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He allegedly engaged in oral sexual contact with the victim being less than 11 years of age.
