Thirst Project Seeks To Make A Difference In Water Crisis

On Nov. 1, the Oswego State campus was visited by two members of the Thirst Project. The presenters, Kangi Downing and Brandon Howa, travel across the country to different middle schools, high schools and Universities to speak. The Thirst Project is an organization of volunteers that is devoted to raising funds to build fresh-water wells in developing countries. It also works to raise awareness of the water crisis and the dramatic adverse effects it has on human life.

Fulton: Unofficial Election Results Show Tight Race in Fifth Ward, Castiglia Retains County Legislature Seat

As polls have closed across Oswego County, unofficial results show a three vote difference between candidates in Fulton’s Fifth Ward and Frank Castiglia Jr. retaining his seat as the 25th District Oswego County legislator. Fifth Ward for the Fulton Common Council and the 25th District of Oswego County Legislature covering a portion of Fulton were the only two contested races relative to the city. Voters elected newcomers: Sue McBrearty (D) in the First Ward, Linda DeMassi (R) in the Second Ward, Kevin Hill (R) in the Third Ward, Robert Wilmott (R) in the Fourth Ward, and Ron Tesoriero (R) in the Sixth Ward. Dozens Travel Through Time to ‘Remember Woodstock’

Bell bottoms, tie-dye, peace signs, bright colors, and plenty of groovy music. Those are the sights and sounds that brought Fulton back to 1969 and the year’s iconic festival, Woodstock. Friends of History in Fulton, Inc. stirred up memories of the peaceful festival, a staple in music history as more than 60 people attended Friends of History in Fulton’s “Remembering Woodstock” event, reliving the magic with a themed buffet dinner, memorabilia of the time, and the musical stylings of Mike MacDonald playing some of the front runners from the festival. According to three guests who were in attendance at the original Woodstock festival nearly 50 years ago, the nostalgia was real.

Oswego To Seek Funds For Flood Relief, Historic Preservation

At Monday’s Administrative Services Committee meeting, Justin Rudgick, Community Development Director, requested a public hearing regarding the NYS Lake Ontario Flood Relief Program. He also requested a public hearing regarding Preserving Landmarks of Oswego West (Round 5 Restore NY Communities Initiative). The proposed project includes two properties in the Fifth Ward, the mayor said – the Railroad Freight House at 20-24 W. Utica St., and 1830 Bridie Square (Bridie Manor).

Troopers Investigating Fatal Crash in Constantia

State Police in Hastings are investigating a one car fatal crash that occurred around 1 p.m. today (Nov. 6) on Salt Road in the town of Constantia. The preliminary investigation has revealed a 2004 Ford Ranger pickup operated by Terence J. Fries, 52, from Bernhardt Bay, was headed south on Salt Road when it left the roadway for an unknown reason.
