Oswego AmeriCorps members and staff worked with youth from the Fulton Family YMCA’s School Age Child Care Program to make fleece blankets on Martin Luther King Day. The blankets were donated to the Oswego County Health Department and will be given to babies served by the maternal and child health services program and the car-seat fitting station. AmeriCorps Members Have Served Oswego County for Two Decades

Since 1997, more than 870 AmeriCorps members have served in Oswego County. The Oswego County AmeriCorps program recognized members during the week of March 4, AmeriCorps Week. “This is an opportunity to show our appreciation to AmeriCorps members in two local programs who serve our area and to thank community partners who make AmeriCorps possible,” said program coordinator Kathy Andolina of the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau.

Fulton Board of Education Petitions Now Available

As of today, (March 6) petitions are available for three open seats on the Fulton City School District Board of Education. The three open terms will commence July 1, 2017 and expire on June 30, 2020. Petitions are available at the office of the Superintendent at the Fulton Education Center located at 167 S. Fourth St. and must be returned to be filed with the district clerk between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. no later than April 26.

A presentation to the Board of Education surrounding graduation rates within Fulton City School District shows a 7% increase from last school year. Of the cohort of students that entered the high school in the year 2012, 76% of FCSD students graduated in June 2016 with a Local, Regents or Regents with Advanced Distinction diploma after four years.
