Due to extreme heavy snow falling in Redfield-Boylston in the eastern part of Oswego County, Sheriff Reuel Todd has requested no unnecessary travel for those affected areas. More heavy snow is forecast for tonight and tomorrow and into Sunday. Conditions are extremely dangerous.
“We have reinvented economic development from the ground up. That is certainly helping Oswego and all of Central New York,” Brian Stratton, director of the NYS Canal Corporation said. He talked about what the state plans to do to lower the cost of prescription drugs, lower taxes, improve roads, bridges and other infrastructure, enhance upstate tourism and other topics. He also cited moral progress.
At 7:25 a.m. today (Feb 2) the famous groundhog, Punxsutawney Phil emerged from his burrow at Gobbler’s Knob to determine whether winter would stay for six more weeks.

Demolition remains ongoing at the former Nestles property in Fulton, specifically targeting the more than two-acre corner lot promised to global supermarket chain, ALDI. Fulton Mayor Ronald Woodward Sr. said that Aldi is still interested in the site and demolition remains ongoing through the winter to the best that weather conditions allow. An Aldi representative recently confirmed this information to Oswego County Today.
On January 29, State Police responded to State Route 264 in the town of Schroeppel for a report of a two-car property damage motor vehicle accident. While Troopers were responding to the scene, 911 reported one of the driver’s involved, Kellan J. Meade, fled the scene on foot.
