State Police Investigating Fatal Accident in Schroeppel

At about 8:20 a.m. today (January 19), State Police patrolling Bankrupt Road in the town of Schroeppel came upon a gray Hyundai Sonata off the roadway
against a tree with heavy front end damage. Inside the vehicle, they located the driver and sole occupant, 62 year-old Richard T. Bray, of Syracuse.

Oswego Council Eyes Paperless Meetings

At Tuesday night’s committee meeting, Councilor Robert Corradino opened a discussion regarding paperless agendas for committee and council meetings. The move would save money, make things move quicker and easier as well as free up the city employees that have to deal printing hundreds of pages each week for the agendas.

Winona Forest Hosts Stone Wall Snowshoe Walk and Race Jan. 28

“Winona Forest is known for its deep snowfalls and winter wonderland appearance, and the Winona Stone Wall has evolved into one of the Northeast’s premier snowshoe events,” said Matt Westerlund, president of Winona Forest Recreation Association. “Shoers can choose from a 5K citizens distance, where they can race, run, or walk with friends, or the 15K championship course.”

FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant Begins Refueling To Support Continued Operation

Early this morning, control room operators removed Entergy Corp.’s FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant from service to begin its 22nd refueling and maintenance outage and prepare for continued safe and reliable operation. FitzPatrick had been scheduled to shut down at the end of its current fuel cycle in January 2017 until Exelon Generation agreed to assume ownership and manage operations.
