Syracuse Hancock International Airport announced that it has teamed with PAWS of CNY, Inc. to offer a Pet Therapy Program at the airport. The program, which is called the SYR Pets Easing Travelers Program is designed to help ease the stress of the traveling public and their loved ones.

The Oswego City Police Department is enforcing a more educational approach to preventing underage drinking and the usage of fake IDs before issuing violations, said Lt. Charles Searor. Searor said that the department will reach out to students in a number of ways through the college and even reaching out to students off-campus. “We used to just do enforcement and not a lot of education and outreach with both students and bars,” Searor said. “We’ve kind of taken a different avenue and tried to educate [and] outreach first.”
On Tuesday, November 29, at approximately 3:40 a.m., State Police arrested 18-year-old Calyx A. Estep from 32 State Route 49, Cleveland, and 21-year-old Jordan T. Garrett, from 2284 County Route 37, Lot #66, West Monroe, for Robbery 2nd degree, a class “C” felony.
The Zonta Club of Oswego is raising awareness about violence against women as part of the internationally recognized 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence.
At its meeting Monday night, the Common Council approved Local Law No. 6 of the year 2016. The local law amends Chapter 228, Taxicabs, of the Code of the City of Oswego. The councilors waived the rules of the council to present a resolution from the floor without committee consideration. They then approved appointment of Nancy Sterio as personnel director. She will take over from Rita Tickle who is retiring.
State Police are investigating a bank robbery that occurred at approximately 11:40 a.m. today (Nov. 28) at the Fulton Savings Bank located at 45 Redfield St., Constantia. Troopers are searching for a man who entered the bank, displayed a weapon and demanded money from the tellers.
Snow? Oswego didn’t need no stinkin’ snow to get into the holiday spirit. The Port City had the likes of Jennifer Losurdo (chief elf), Nate Emmons (MC and holiday music guru for the event), Kevin Carracioli and their legion of tireless volunteers. The Port City officially lit up for the holidays on Saturday. Hundreds of people throughout the day enjoyed Light Up, Oswego, a community-wide, all-day event that welcomed the holiday season in Oswego at myriad locations.
Kristopher D. Paro, 24, left his residence alone to go hunting in an area behind his residence, located at 310 Kehoe Road in the town of Sandy Creek. His father, Kevin, was mistaken for the deer, and was shot police said.
At 4:41 p.m. today (Nov. 24), State Police in Pulaski responded to a residence on Kehoe Road in the town of Sandy Creek for a report of an individual shot in a hunting accident. NOCA Ambulance transported the individual to Oswego Hospital, where the individual was pronounced deceased, police said.
