Oswego Lights Up For The Holidays

Snow? Oswego didn’t need no stinkin’ snow to get into the holiday spirit. The Port City had the likes of Jennifer Losurdo (chief elf), Nate Emmons (MC and holiday music guru for the event), Kevin Carracioli and their legion of tireless volunteers. The Port City officially lit up for the holidays on Saturday. Hundreds of people throughout the day enjoyed Light Up, Oswego, a community-wide, all-day event that welcomed the holiday season in Oswego at myriad locations.

State Police are investigating a fatal hunting accident in Sandy Creek

At 4:41 p.m. today (Nov. 24), State Police in Pulaski responded to a residence on Kehoe Road in the town of Sandy Creek for a report of an individual shot in a hunting accident. NOCA Ambulance transported the individual to Oswego Hospital, where the individual was pronounced deceased, police said.

Firefighters Stress Cooking Safety on Thanksgiving Day

According to the National Fire Protection Association, cooking is the leading cause of home fires on Thanksgiving Day. A cooking fire is three times more likely on Thanksgiving than on any other day of the year. “Most fires on Thanksgiving occur between noon and 4 p.m. – the peak cooking hours,” said Lt. Paul Conzone. “A lot of those fires can be easily avoided by staying alert and in the kitchen while cooking.”

Proposed Budget Shows No Tax Increase in Fulton, Public Hearing Scheduled

At its current state, the proposed 2017 Fulton city budget shows no increase in the tax rate, standing at $20.51 per $1,000 of assessed value. A pubic hearing on the proposed 2017 budget has been scheduled to take place on Dec 6 following the public comment portion of the regular common council meeting beginning at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Building, located at 141 S. First St.
