Council Approves Grant Application For Work on Former Nestles, Sofco Sites

The Fulton Common Council has unanimously approved a resolution at the regular meeting held Tuesday, September 20 to authorize the city of Fulton to submit a grant application to the New York State Empire Development Corporation. The grant, for the maximum amount of $500,000 would be used to complete infrastructure work and marketing for both the former Nestles site located at 555 S. Fourth St. as well as the former Sofco site located at 351 N. First St.

Fulton Council Passes Resolution of Respect for Former Councilor, Daniel Knopp

The Fulton Common Council unanimously approved a resolution of respect in honor of former common councilor, Daniel H. Knopp Jr., who passed away on September 8, 2016. “We may never know why things happen the way they do. Dan was a good man and for all the time he spent as common councilman, he always did something good for the city. We will miss him very much,” the mayor said.

The proclamation comes as Saint Josephs Council, No. 254, Knights of Columbus in Fulton, New York acknowledges its anniversary of 119 years since chartered in August 1, 1987 and Saint Josephs Assembly, No. 748, Knights of Columbus in Fulton, New York acknowledges its anniversary of 106 years since being chartered on August 1, 1910.

Oswego Man Gets 2nd Chance At Life Thanks To Generous Organ Donor

Cardiac surgeons at the University of Rochester’s Medicine’s Strong Memorial Hospital recently performed a 200th heart transplant surgery, providing a 48-year-old father a second chance on life. Transplant surgeons performed the six-hour life-saving procedure Aug. 24 and Stephen Waite Jr. of Oswego is recovering at Strong Memorial Hospital.
