The Oswego council worked throughout the summer to come up with a winter parking policy that would be fair and make the majority of the residents happy. They aren’t quite there yet. However, at Monday’s meeting, they approved a policy that’s the best step going forward into the coming winter, the councilors agreed. The policy will be in effect from December 1 of each year until March 31 of the following year. It calls for no parking on residential streets from 12 a.m. to 6 a.m.; except for the downtown area where the ban is in effect 2 – 6 a.m.
This past weekend, the Marching Bucs competed in the New England School Bands Association competition held at Wakefield High School in Massachusetts. The Marching Bucs won the entire show with a score of 88.3 and received a gold rating. The Marching Bucs also won caption awards for Best Music, Best Color Guard, and Best Percussion!
At about 3:40 p.m. Monday, Volney Volunteer Fire Department along with four ALS ambulance from Menters were dispatched to a two-car MVA with several patients, with possible extraction. Three patients were transported to Syracuse hospital, one patient transported to Oswego Hospital.
Oswego County Clerk Michael Backus issued a warning for local residents. Some people have recently reported receiving direct mail solicitations from companies offering to provide deed reports and other information for excessive costs.

As Domestic Violence Awareness Month continues, State Senator Patty Ritchie has announced she has secured nearly $75,000 to strengthen the efforts of local organizations that work to help victims of domestic violence and cut down on instances of the crime.

The investigation has revealed 37 year-old, Paul J. Switzer from 540 County Line Road in Phoenix, was traveling south on County Route 6 when his vehicle exited the west side shoulder of the roadway and struck several trees.
State Police in Fulton arrested Andrea M. Myers, 28, from 483 County Route 29 in Scriba, for DWI-Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd degree, both misdemeanors and Endangering the Welfare of an Incompetent/Physically disabled person 1st degree, a class “E” felony.
