Financial donations and volunteer help are needed for this year’s Community Thanksgiving Dinner to be held on Thursday, November 24 from noon until 2:00 p.m. at First United Church of Fulton at 33 South Third Street in Fulton.
By now you’re all aware, Donald Trump has won the historic 2016 presidential race to become the United States’ new president-elect. While the 45th President of the United States was a very publicized and some would say “entertaining” race, there were many other seats in United States government up for grabs including federal, state and local races. So, what happened in New York State and even more specifically, Oswego County?
The Oswego County Health Department is advising residents that the rabies virus is still active in Oswego County. Rabid bats were found over the weekend of Nov. 5 and 6 in the cities of Oswego and Fulton.

The Fulton Common Council has scheduled two public hearings to take place on November 15. The first public hearing is in regards to a resolution to override the local tax levy cap. A second public hearing will be held considering a proposal to amend local law regarding storage of over-sized recreational vehicles.
On November 8, at about 12:50 a.m., the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office investigated a personal injury motor vehicle crash that occurred on County Route 57 in the town of Volney, north of the city of Fulton. The driver and several passengers were injured. The driver was charged with DWI. Investigation is continuing.
At Monday night’s meeting of the Planning and Development Committee, Councilor John B. Gosek rolled out some new wording regarding his proposed changes to the city’s Taxicab Ordinance (Chapter 228). The wording is based on federal immigration guidelines After receiving a favorable recommendation from the committee, the plan will now go to the full council for consideration.
Deborah F. Stanley, president of SUNY Oswego, assumed the chair of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities’ Board of Directors during the association’s Annual Meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 1. In her role as chair of AASCU, President Stanley will lead the national association in its vision to influence American public higher education through advocacy, leadership and service.
New York State Police have released information regarding a fatal three-vehicle accident on NYS Route 481. Onondaga County 911 received a call around 11 a.m. today (Nov 7) reporting a small, dark colored sedan traveling northbound on NYS Route 481 when it “crossed over into the center median, across the southbound lanes and into the brush on the west side of the highway. Witnesses then reported the vehicle began to back up through the brush and begin to drive north in the southbound lanes,” the press release said.
