Mayor Barlow Outlines Port City’s Paving Schedule

“We have an extremely aggressive paving schedule for the next month and I would like to make the residents aware of the road construction and ask for their patience, as we work through the neighborhoods and main roadways,” the mayor said. “We will do our best to notify our residents ahead of time, but please be aware of temporary ‘No Parking’ signs that may appear on side streets and consider alternate routes around the identified road work.”

Dozens Honor ‘America’s First Supermodel’ in New Haven

Dozens of people from all over Upstate New York gathered in New Haven Town Hall recently to honor the late Audrey Munson, best known for being “America’s first supermodel.” Many people may have seen Audrey without even knowing, especially in the NYC area where she is proudly displayed throughout the city in numerous monuments and sculptures including Civic Pride, the second tallest statue in NYC where Munson’s full body sculpture sits at the very top.

Oswego Police Thwart Robbery Attempt

On Wednesday (June 15), at about 10:47 p.m., the Oswego Police Department was dispatched to Empower Federal Credit Union located at 100 George St. for a bank alarm. Upon their arrival they observed damage to a metal door that was still locked and secured. During their investigation loud banging was heard coming from the Compass Federal Credit Union located at 131 George St.

Without Help From NYS, Exelon Says It’ll Close NiMi Point 1

In a recent filing with the NYS Public Service Commission, Exelon said it would close Nine Mile Point 1 if it doesn’t get a guarantee from the state for a financial lifeline by September. New York’s proposed Clean Energy Standard includes a mechanism to compensate nuclear plants through zero emissions credits. However, the company said it couldn’t count on a CES that is “merely speculative.”
