State Senator Patty Ritchie called for New York State to preserve nuclear energy and protect the FitzPatrick Nuclear Plant in a letter to the Public Service Commission delivered as part of a public hearing held in Oswego on the PSC’s Clean Energy Standard, which has set a goal of the state achieving 50 percent renewable energy generation by 2030.

It was twenty-two years ago now when 18-year-old Heidi Allen disappeared early Easter Sunday morning in 1994 from the D&W convenience store that she worked for in New Haven. Despite the years that have passed, this particular case has recently caught national attention when it aired on Friday (May 20) as an episode on Dateline NBC entitled ‘The Informant.’ Dateline spent the past year interviewing all the key players in the case, including Heidi’s sister, Lisa Buske, District Attorney Greg Oakes, Sheriff Reuel Todd, defense attorney Lisa Peebles, the Thibodeau family, and even featured the only man ever convicted for Heidi’s disappearance, Gary Thibodeau as well as others. The one-hour episode summed up the mystery case of Heidi Allen and provided insight from all sides of the case. The New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation are investigating a grand larceny that occurred in Pennellville. The pictured ring was one of many items stolen from the residence. The ring is described as a 14 karat two tone gold diamond ring with a 1.16 carat diamond.

On April 23, a witness reported to State Police in Fulton that she was driving on Terry Lane in the town of Granby and observed a man slam a yellow Labrador retriever puppy to the ground. The puppy was found to have a broken femur and signs of strangulation.
