On behalf of the Oswego County Historical Society I want to thank all of the generous groups, businesses, and individuals who donated such wonderful services to our annual “Good Ole Summer Time – Victorian Picnicâ€! The picnic was held on the lawn at the Richardson-Bates House Museum on a perfectly beautiful Sunday afternoon and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it!
On June 10, in a vote of 13 to 12, members of our county legislature voted down the funding for the eradicating and control of the invasive Chinese water chestnut from the Oswego River. There are more than 200 acres of the water chestnut covering the river in rugs like mats. Every year that the chestnuts go untreated, their numbers and locations proliferate exponentially. This is a serious, present problem.
On behalf of the Fulton Service Clubs Memorial Day Salute Committee, I want to thank the people of the Fulton area who attended and participated in the various events sponsored by the four Fulton Service Clubs over the Memorial Day Weekend.
How can a Registered Republican think and make a decision on the two candidates for the 23rd Congressional District, when issues from the 2009 election process have not been answered?
Instead of trying to prop up the failing dairy industry by pushing cow’s milk (“June Is Dairy Month,†June 2), state officials would better serve their constituents by encouraging consumers to choose nondairy foods and beverages while helping dairy farmers find work better suited to the 21st century.
