Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Helping Homeless Cats

Here it is November with snow and a smallish cat just showed up on my back porch a few days ago. I think she is sheltering under the porch, but when I go out to try to approach her and coax her inside she takes off into the woods and I don’t see her again for hours. I have been leaving food and water for her and it is gone every morning. I would let her in and take care of her in a heartbeat. How can I help her survive outside in this weather?

Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Can A Cat Be A Companion For A Dog?

I have a wonderful black lab named Barney, about nine months old, and I think he needs a friend. I work during the day and play with him a lot in the morning and when I get home, but he is alone during the day. The problem is that my landlord will only allow one dog, so I am thinking maybe I should get him a cat to play with. Do you think that’s a good idea?

Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Beware Of Pet Store Claims

I was in a pet store the other day, They had the most gorgeous Golden Retriever puppies for sale, about 7 weeks old. I know that a lot of puppies in pet stores come from puppy mills and I would not support that, so I asked and the owner assured me that all of her puppies come from local breeders and if I bought one, she would give me the paperwork. What do you think?

Buddy and Porky Pet Health – A Word About Halloween

We are sorry to be grumpy, but Halloween is coming up and we know that a lot of you really love to dress up and eat lots of candy and put candles in pumpkins and string orange lights and that kind of thing. Here’s the grumpy part. Most pets sort of hate it. Sure they like finding candy in weird places and trying to scarf it up before you can catch them, but then they get sick from all those sweets and you have vomit in strange colors all over your carpet.

So, I was out walking my little dog, Toto, the other day (Yes, I know, but he came with that name.) and we were walking for a couple of minutes, then running for a couple of minutes and generally having a good time, when some lady came up to me and started to yell at me about being mean to Toto by making him run.

This just in from the ASPCA. The Animal Emergency Planning Act (H.R. 4524), recently introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives, will require facilities such as commercial animal-breeders, zoos and laboratories to create plans for protecting animals in their care during disasters. Porky and Buddy Pet Health – Establishing a ‘pet trust’

A friend of mine who was in her 70s just passed away unexpectedly and she had two dogs and three cats. Her grown children knew we were friends and they asked me to take in all of her pets. Which I did, I only had one dog of my own, but now my house is pretty crowded as I look for new safe homes for them. In the meantime, I am worried about what my happen to my pets in the same situation. I don’t have any family – not that hers was all that helpful.
