The Oswego Girls’ JV Volleyball team went 10-0 on the day to win the Gold Division Championship game on Saturday in Central Square. Finishing first in pool play with a 6-0 record we faced off against a tough West Genny team and won the semi-final game 2-0 in sets. The championship match we faced off with Fulton who had just beat host Central Square. In the championship match we beat Fulton 25-14 and 25-15.
The girls played with the speed we have been working on from the moment the first whistle blew to the last whistle to end the match. The girls paced themselves as we settled in very quickly and never looked back throughout the match.
Slow start for us tonight, but we bounced back. The first set was a lot of back and forth volleyball, we have several good contacts and then JD had several good contacts. Both teams made minimal errors in the first set of the match. And we got behind for a little and turned it around near the end of the first set.
Gareau and Marotta will be joined by another former Supermodified shoe in Wayne Landon, longtime Small Block Super car builders Dan Dennie and Ray Hedger as well as Norm Patrick and the Patrick family of Gater Racing News.

The annual Buc Boosters Girls’ JV Volleyball tournament was a big success. Nine teams from around Section 3 came to the Oswego High School gym to compete in the annual tournament. Host team Oswego finished 1st in pool play and lost in the Gold division semifinal to the eventual Gold winner Liverpool.
The Oswego State volleyball team jumped back into the win column with a 3-0 victory over Capital University at the Nazareth Invitational on Friday night. Oswego’s straight-set victory came in 25-20, 25-20, 25-14 fashion to go 4-1 on the year while Capital falls to 3-4.
The Oswego State men’s soccer team dropped its contest to the Franklin & Marshall Diplomats, 2-0, on Friday evening. The Lakers are now even at 2-2 on the season whereas the No. 12 Diplomats improve to 3-0-1.
The Oswego State women’s soccer team was handed its first loss of the 2016 campaign 3-2 to the University of Mount Union on Friday afternoon in the opening game of the Fredonia Blue Devils/Clarion Hotel Classic. Oswego’s loss drops its overall record to 1-1 while the Purple Raiders advance to 2-1.
Jeff Abold, the winner of Oswego Speedway’s 60th annual Budweiser International Classic 200 for Novelis Supermodifieds last Sunday, is making the trek to New Hampshire this weekend to take on the third and final leg of Supermodified racing’s Triple Crown, ISMA’s Star Classic 150 at Star Speedway.
