With Oswego Speedway’s 66th season opening event just days away, several race teams have test sessions planned throughout the week in anticipation of the first green flag of the season on May 14, presented by Mitchell’s Speedway Press. The first session of the week is scheduled to be run on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. for the Hedger Fabrication Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supers of Russ Brown and Cameron Rowe.
Jimmy Phelps out of Baldwinsville served noticed that he will be a serious contender for the 2016 Fulton Speedway, Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modified track championship.
On a near perfect Saturday afternoon, nearly 40 racecars took to Oswego Speedway for its annual open practice session with Otto Sitterly and defending Pathfinder Bank SBS champion Mike Bond leading the speed charts.

After an updated look at the impending weather the Brewerton Speedway has canceled the May 6 racing program to save fans and competitors travel time and money. The Fulton Speedway will be racing May 7 on Ferris Mowers Night.
At each of the Speedway’s regular season Novelis Supermodified events, starting with the Speedway’s season opener on May 14, the last driver running on the lead lap at the conclusion of the night’s main event will receive an additional $50 in his or her prize money check, courtesy of XSTSR.
Oswego Kartway will open for its first racing action of the 2016 season on Friday, May 6, with a non-point warmup race to get the new season under way. Drivers in as many as 15 different divisions of racing are expected to turn out on May 6 for their first look at the Kartway
Fulton Little League recently held an opening day ceremony to officially welcome the youth’s baseball and softball season. On a warm, sunny Saturday (April 30) Fulton Little League participants all gathered on the first and third base lines of John Florek Field at Kiwanis Ball Park, anxiously awaiting the official opening of the 2016 season. With 300 participants this year, players ranged from ages 3-12 for different leagues including T-ball, coach pitch, and minors and majors baseball and softball marched on the field in their colorful new uniforms. After each team was announced and players waved their hats in recognition, Little League Vice President Dave Webber; Little League President, John Florek and Mayor of Fulton, Ronald Woodward Sr. delivered the season’s opening remarks.
Oswego Speedway has long been a training ground for second generation racers and young aspiring open-wheel talent, and the tradition will continue in 2016 as Davey Hamilton Jr. will make his Oswego Supermodified debut during the Speedway’s 66th season opener on May 14 driving for Mike Muldoon Racing.
