A record 126 entries contended in Oswego Kartway’s RJ Kart Sales Kartway Classic last Thursday between 14 different divisions. For the eighth time, the Kartway Classic took place on the Thursday prior to Budweiser International Classic Weekend at Oswego Speedway, and yet again the night’s racing action was some of the best of the season.
Despite an extra distance of 209 laps and a rain delayed start in Oswego Speedway’s Budweiser International Classic 200, which saw two late race green-white-checkered attempts, Canajoharie, NY, pilot Otto Sitterly once again reigned supreme in the Classic as he drove away from the 34 car field for his fourth career International Classic triumph worth more than $18,000. Sitterly took the point from early leader and pole sitter Joey Payne after he went to pit road for adjustments at lap 79.
In feature racing on Ingles Performance and VP Small Engines Fuels night the winners were, Matt Hulsizer, Tracey Road Equipment DIRTcar Modifieds, Nick Webb, SUNY Canton Sportsman, Tim Sears Jr., NAPA Late Models, Haiden Burdick, E&V Energy Novice Sportsman, Gordy Button, A-Verdi Storage Containers 305 Sprints and Chuck Powelczyk, Hilton’s Automotive Four Cylinders.
The Oswego State women’s soccer team lost its season-opener 1-0 to Westfield State College in the first round of the Rutland Herald Invitational hosted by Castleton State College on Saturday afternoon. Oswego used Emma Geyer’s goal in the 81st minute to move past Rutgers-Camden 2-1 in the Rutland Herald Invitational held by Castleton State College Sunday.
