Payne Shatters Oswego Track Record in Budweiser International Classic ‘Fast 14’ Time Trials
Oswego Speedway’s Budweiser International Classic ‘Fast 14’ time trials proved to be historic Friday night, as Joey Payne shattered the Supermodified track record with a lap of 15.802 seconds at 142.387 mph, to set on the pole for Sunday’s 58th annual International Classic. Payne’s blistering lap aboard the Graham/Strong Racing Xtreme No. 99 bested a field of 37 Supermodifieds to take time on Friday night, and was the fastest of three drivers to turn the Speedway’s first laps under 16 seconds in a non-wing Supermodified.
